Snowmobile Trail Conditions Report: The Forks, Maine March 2021
THE FORKS TRAIL REPORT 3/12/2021
The warmup was tough on our trail system, leaving little to work with. Moral of the story — you can still get a ride in, but should head out of town and a little further north to get to some decent late season conditions. Jackman, Maine has a nice update on area snowmobile trail conditions we recommend peaking at. If you’re looking for a place to stay, our Buy One Night Get One Night FREE spring lodging special is going on through the week (Fri/Sat reg price), with the brewpub closing March 21st at 4pm. After that, it’s 50% off lodging until our opening day of rafting season on May 7th!
Trailmaster Update:
Well we just went out and did some inspections. The warm weather was not kind to our trails. A lot of snirt, dirt corners and not enough material to work with without risking damage to our equipment to really do anything.
So with that said, the trails are passable. There are a lot of areas you can go explore. This is not the time for new or inexperienced riders 😉 There are some sections that will appear flat and fast but you may be met with a culvert, washout, rock etc so use late/early season mentality.
Barring a major storm we will not be grooming anymore this year.

THE FORKS TRAIL REPORT 3/10/2021
The weather’s been beautiful this week- but for snowmobilers, you can’t help but hear the snow melt when someone says it’s a “beautiful day” right?! Trails are holding up though, especially out of town sections, and evenings have been cold (until tonight) so we’ve been able to get groomers out consistently. Groomers are on hold for Wednesday and Thursday evening due to warm temps, but we will be reassessing for Friday night!
Trailmaster Report:
We sent two groomers out last night, trails came out very nice. We did suffer a drag breaking so we were not able to do the in-town section. But honestly there isn’t much we can do there anyway besides aesthetics. If you can get out and ride today, it’s the day to go. The warm temps will have us holding any further grooming and will reassess for Friday.
Overall trails came out better than expected, plenty of snow cover on the dirt road sections. Some bare spots showing in several sections and thin in the woods.
ITS 87 Thin, rough in town, overall good to very good condition.
ITS 86 to 88 Thin corners in woods, main trail in very good condition. Powerlines by moxie lots of bare spots. Troutdale road sections down to dirt with little snow areas. Getting through rewards with excellent trails headed to ITS 88.
Kennebec River Trail Groomed and in great condition overall. Steep hill off flood road is down to mostly dirt. Short section but passable.
Pleasant Pond Trail Still closed to incoming logging. Please stay off.
Bald Mountain/Breakneck Ridge Trail In good condition. Groomed a couple days ago but still fast and great snow cover.

THE FORKS TRAILS UPDATE 3/7/2021
All main trails were groomed last night, they came out pretty good from the reports. The cold temps are keeping the snow but also understand there is not much to work with. The dirt road sections are good to great.
Please note of caution.
The Kennebec River Trail should be only used by experienced riders at this time of the season due to the icy/bare hill on the flood road.
We have both groomers headed out tonight (Sunday).
THE FORKS TRAIL REPORT 3/4/2021
Tuesday was WINDY – so when Zach hit the trails on Wednesday for his bi-weekly video report, he spent a bit of time clearing trees and debris off the trail. HUGE shoutout to Darrell, who stopped by and offered to lend a hand – that’s Maine riding at its finest 🙂 Trails have some thin spots here and there, but overall the riding is in really good shape. Groomers have been out nightly.
Trailmaster Report:
Hard, smooth and fast are words that come to mind describing ALL of our trails. Get it while the getting is good because the sun is out longer and temps are rising. Get out and ride!
Cold temps have been keeping the trails in tip top condition.
We had two groomers out tonight.
ITS 87 Groomed and in great shape all the way through our system.
ITS 86 to 88 Groomed and in great shape. Troutdale road will be rerouted today (Thursday) back to the old trail section on the power lines. Please look for signage changes and use caution around the logging. CMP has allowed us to share their active area due to low snow, lube on the Troutdale road. Please be respectful and stay on the trail.
Kennebec River Trail Groomed and in great shape, getting thin in the woods section by the Cemetary but overall great shape.
Caratunk Spur Trail Groomed and in great shape.
Pleasant Pond Trail Still closed to incoming logging. Please stay off.
Bald Mountain Trail Groomed and in great shape
C Moxie Gore Trail Groomed last week. Will be groomed before weekend.
