Great Time at a High School Reunion

My wife and I stayed at the River Driver Cabin last weekend for a high school reunion. We had a great time. There were about 25 in our party ( including kids), and everything worked out great. Several of our party camped, while others took advantage of the Logdominiums. My wife and I rented a Cozy Cabin. All the accommodations where clean, simple and comfortable. Not too much, but not too little. Pool, Arcade and Hot Tub kept the kids entertained while the bar with their own brewed beer took care of the adults (try the Big Mamma Blueberry w/ fresh blueberries added to every mug)! We did a inner tube float down the lower Kennebec on Saturday (great for all ages and my pregnant wife) and rafted the upper Kennebec on Sunday.
I can’t say enough good things about the staff. My wife is 30 weeks pregnant and is getting pretty uncomfortable in the summer heat. Despite being completely booked during the high season, the staff instantly empathized with my wife, volunteering extra pillows and fans. The end of the season guide costume party was on Saturday and despite ‘enthusiastic’ participation by the staff, everyone was ready to go, engaging and providing excellent service that evening and next day on the river. Our Guide, Alec, was safe, professional and provided a great day on the river. He was patient and encouraging to the kids that we had on our raft and made us all feel like part of the trip, rather than tourists. A great, gourmet lunch (salmon, steak, chicken) cooked riverside by the guides provide a great break to recharge for the last half of the day.
The only suggestions I could offer, are that the restaurant was a bit understaffed to accommodate all the guests that weekend so the service was slow and that the cabins could have used air-conditioning. With an August 90+ deg heatwave, the fans were not quite enough to cool down at night. The Logdominiums did have A/C and I would suggest those for people who are traveling during the summer heat!
All in All, What a great place. Hopefully we’ll be back again soon!
