THE FORKS TRAIL REPORT 2/26/2020

**Update Feb 28th: Yesterday’s storm dropped another 8″ of deliciously fresh snow. Groomers were both out last night, one is out today, and both plan to be out both nights this weekend **

Some warm temperatures and strong sunshine over the past few days have deteriorated the trails somewhat. Still good riding, but it has been difficult getting things groomed out and set up well. The good news is that we are expecting 8 – 10” of snow on Thursday. Both Tuckers will be out right after the storm abates, as well as right through the weekend. Check out the LIVE WEBCAM to see for yourself how the snow is coming along!

Zach went for a ride before the storm to see how things held up from the warm temps. Keep in mind, things will look a lot different after Thursday’s storm!

**Correction: Groomers will be out Thursday night, and every night through the weekend**

ITS 86 EAST FROM BERRY’S STORE HEADING EAST TOWARD GREENVILLE/ROCKWOOD TO ITS 88 JUNCTION
Intown is in fair shape after grooming. However, because of heavy traffic day and night, intown gets beat up quickly. Once out of town about 1 mile, things improve greatly. The 1 mile Power Line section at Lake Moxie is in good shape. From Moxie Dam up to ITS 88 junction is mostly on unplowed roads and is great riding.

ITS 87 HEADING SOUTH TOWARD BINGHAM
Boise Road and Divide Road sections are in great shape. Short woods sections at Pleasant Pond and Moore’s Bog are fair to good. Rest of the way south towards Bingham is a nice ride.

CARATUNK SPUR
Open and well groomed.

PLEASANT POND TRAIL
Mostly on unplowed roads . . . . . sweet riding!

BALD MOUNTAIN TRAIL
Mostly unplowed roads and is in great shape. There is no connection off the south end of the BMT to the Wind Mills in Bingham, as there has been in the past. Only access to the Wind Mills is a trail off ITS 87 north of Bingham. The Bald Mtn Trail combined with the Pleasant Pond Trail form a great loop ride between ITS 86 and ITS 87.

BREAKNECK RIDGE TRAIL
Open and groomed and in good shape.

KENNEBEC RIVER TRAIL FROM NORTHERN OUTDOORS TO BERRY’S STORE
Open and groomed. Mostly in good shape. A little rough as you approach town.

PLEASE RESPECT THE LANDOWNERS WISHES . . . . . . . STAY OFF ALL PLOWED ROADS!!

THE FORKS TRAIL REPORT 2/13/2020

We have received about 10” of snow in the past week. This has helped our groomers to improve our trail conditions tremendously. Generally speaking, trail sections on unplowed roads are very good to excellent, while woods trails are fair to good. We have been working the trails all week to get them in good shape for the weekend and school vacation week. Things are looking good right now!

ITS 86 EAST FROM BERRY’S TOWARD GREENVILLE/ROCKWOOD ITS 88 JUNCTION
Intown is in decent shape. However, because of heavy traffic, intown gets beat up quickly. Once out of town about 1 mile, things improve greatly. The groomers have been able to fill in the larger waterbars on ITS 86 around Mosquito Mtn, so that is much improved. The 1 mile Power Line section at Lake Moxie is fair to good. From Moxie Dam up to ITS 88 junction is mostly on unplowed roads and is great riding.

On Wednesday, Zach took a ride on a greatly improved trail system. Check it out!

2/8/20 Trail Update

Last week was a rough one for trails, with just not enough snow to work with on many sections, plus a beat up groomer waiting on parts. Thanks for bearing with us as we trekked to VT to get it figured out! We received about 8″ of dense snow from yesterday’s storm. Definitely gave the groomers something to work with, and both went out to smooth down main sections Friday night. We covered ITS 87, ITS 86, Kennebec River Trail, and part of the Bald Mountain Trail. Tonight (Saturday) we will do ITS 86, 87, and Kennebec River Trail again and try to complete Bald Mtn Trail and Pleasant Pond Trail.

Zach rode south on ITS 87 on February 5th to give you a first-hand view of the trails!

THE FORKS TRAIL REPORT 2/6/2020

Temperatures have remained on the cold side over the past week, but we have not received any new snow. We have been doing the best grooming that we can with the minimal amount of snow. There are some larger depressions in some spots that are not filled in completely, so be careful. This is particularly true on our woods trails which need more snow. Overall sections of trail that are on unplowed roads are in good shape. Woods trail sections are rough. About 85% of our trail system is on unplowed roads.

Looks like around 12” of snow coming on Thursday and Friday, which will help tremendously. Groomers will be out all weekend nights.

ITS 86 FROM BERRY’S EAST TOWARD GREENVILLE
Intown is very rough and needs more snow. We just can’t do much through there with the groomer. After 1 mile or so, things improve greatly. A couple miles of ITS 86 around the north side of Mosquito Mtn have some larger water bars that are not completely filled in. The 1 mile Power Line section at Lake Moxie is rough. From Moxie Dam up to ITS 88 junction is mostly on unplowed roads and is great riding.

KENNEBEC RIVER TRAIL FROM NORTHERN OUTDOORS TO BERRY’S STORE
Open and groomed. Mostly in decent shape, except last 1 mile towards town is rough.

BREAKNECK RIDGE TRAIL
Open and groomed and in good shape.

BALD MOUNTAIN TRAIL

BREAKNECK RIDGE TRAIL Open and groomed and in good shape.

ITS 87 HEADING SOUTH TOWARD BINGHAM
Short woods sections at Pleasant Pond and Moore’s Bog are rough. Otherwise it’s a nice ride.

PLEASANT POND TRAIL
