Triple Crown of Rafting

I have been coming to Northern Outdoors with a group of close friends for almost 9 years now. We rafted on The Kennebec the first couple of years, then rafted on the both the Kennebec and the Dead in the same weekend. Last year was our first year rafting on the Penobscot. All of these trips were with Northern Outdoors.

This year my group wanted to do something special. We had a group of 9 rafting enthusiast. When we where here last year I spoke with Nick Atwood about the possibility of doing the “Triple Crown of Rafting”. We wanted to raft on 3 rivers in 3 days. It was difficult to plan due to my groups schedules. After a lot of hard work and altering work schedules we had set our date and I was ready to make our reservation. I called up and started to make the reservation. Unfortunately the Dead River was completely booked. I had been in contact with Nick through e-mail. After several e-mails Nick had notified me of an opening on the Dead River. I immediately called and updated my reservation. Our trip was now ready for a once in a lifetime event. We even had a paddle made up to commemorate the occasion.

The overall trip was awesome and something that I don’t think any of us will ever forget. All the rivers were running at an unusually high water release. We had Nick guide us on the Penobscot River and had Dawn Knowles guide us on the Dead River and the Kennebec River. Out of all the times that I have gone rafting this may have been the best trip ever. That was due large in part to the attitude of your staff. Everyone that we came in contact with was friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure that we had the best trip possible.

In particular I would like to single out Nick Atwood for going above and beyond what a normal employee is expected to do. Due to his remaining in contact with me and giving me the most recent and updated information he was able to make this trip possible and I cannot thank him enough. Also, his skills as a rafting guide are outstanding. We had a great trip on the river.

I would also like to recognize Dawn Knowles who was also terrific. She was friendly and sociable and made us all feel very relaxed. Her skills as a guide are exceptional. It seemed as if we hit every rapid available on the river, which was exactly what we were looking for.

Both Nick and Dawn were always full of energy and enthusiasm and were encouraging to all of us. They are only two of the many employees we came in contact with during our stay. Based on my interactions with all your staff I would highly recommend your company to all my family and friends. And I will definitely be coming up next year.
